Since it opened its doors in 2011 the CTCA has supported several African governments to implement tobacco control programs that have an impact. This has included support from the center to enact and implement tobacco control laws, policies and regulations along with the provision of technical assistance to country teams and the development of materials that could help support the holistic implementation of the laws and regulations.

The center has developed toolkits and guidelines on different areas of tobacco control to guide policy enactment and implementation toolkits on capacity assessment methodology, data to action, step by step guide on pictorial health warnings, communication guide, coordination mechanism and the tobacco industry monitoring tool.

The CTCA has supported the driven  the process of sharing of best practices on the enactment of tobacco control laws in the African region and globally and has also been instrumental in establishing and strengthening collaborations and network between countries and on the continent.
