Prof. William Bazeyo

Dean, Makerere University School of Public Health and Director CTCA

William Bazeyo the Dean of the Makerere University School of Public Health is an Associate Professor of Occupational Medicine. He is a Medical Doctor from Makerere University and an M.Med in Occupational Health graduate from University of Singapore in Singapore. He has over 20 years teaching experience in Makerere University.

Mr. Ouma Ndao

The Technical Advisor Policy  (TAP)

Mr. Ouma  Ndao is a Senegalese national and a graduate of the School of Applied Economics (ESEA) of the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar. He specialized in planning training programs for behavioral change

He joined the CTCA in August 2015 as the Technical Advisor Policy (TAP). His main responsibility is to provide overall support to governments and other actors in the target countries on Tobacco Control initiatives, particularly on the development and implementation of legislation, policies so as to reduce tobacco use in Africa. He has been very instrumental in supporting tobacco control interventions led by CTCA in CTCA’s French Speaking countries of Niger and Gabon.

Dr. Jim Arinaitwe

Centre Manager

Dr. Jim Arinaitwe who was formerly coordinating the Global Fund Program in Uganda has now joined the CTCA as its new manager. He will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Centre and will provide leadership for the Centre’s operations in supporting African governments to develop tobacco control policies and legislation, as well as building and sustaining institutional capacity for tobacco control.

Agro Economist

Joined CTCA in January 2015 as an Agro Economist Provide leadership and technical support to governments in Africa on the development, adoption and implementation of policies for farmers transitioning from tobacco to alternatives

Kellen Nyamurungi Namusisi

Technical Advisor Monitoring and Evaluation-CTCA: 

Kellen Joined CTCA in September, 2011 and her key roles are providing technical advice on monitoring and evaluation, support to country coordination and mainstreaming of tobacco control into Public Health and poverty reduction programs.  Currently at the Centre, Kellen has conducted Data to Action trainings for African Governments, Developed the Performance Management Plan, supported countries to access and utilize tobacco control data and information.

Angela Nanyanzi

Program Officer Budget and Operations CTCA

Angela Nanyanzi is an East and southern Africa Management Institute MBA graduate of 2013.  She joined CTCA in June 2011 as the Program Officer. She is In charge of Finance, Administration and Human Resources at CTCA. 

She has for the last nine years worked extensively in areas of financial management, grants management and administration in Public Health programs.

Ronald BAGAGAJoined CTCA in January 2015 as a Tobacco Control Advisor Compliance ( TAC) with the main resposnibility of supporting target countries to develop comprehensive TC  laws and regulations compliant with the WHO FCTC and in accordance with country laws.

Information Technology Officer  

Kenneth BAKAIRA is the Information Technology officer at CTCA and Makerere University School of Public Health. Joined CTCA in November 2011, Graduated from Makerere University with a B.Sc. in Information Technology and holds certificates in Cyberwar, Surveillance and security, Cybersecurity Management, CCNA, CCNP and LPI1. Prior to Joining CTCA Kenneth worked for web hosting companies as a web developer and as a systems administrator with a focus in information systems security.
