The Centre for Tobacco Control in Africa is seeking to recruit a Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Centre and for the implementation of the Centre’s Business Plan, Strategic Plan, and Performance Management Plan. S/he will directly supervise the CTCA’s technical staff and the Programme Officer and among others his/her specific duties and responsibilities shall include;

  1. Offer strategic and operational leadership to the Centre in the execution of its mandate;
  2. Represent the Centre at all tobacco control strategic partnership meetings and events;
  3. Lead the centre’s programs within its strategic plan as approved by the steering committee
  4. Liase with WHO, ACBF and MakSPH on CTCA related issues Uganda Centre for Tobacco Control in Africa 305 
  5. Develop/produce contractual deliverables (quarterly, annual, project evaluations, etc.) in conjunction with other key staff and external consultants
  6. Ensure clear roles and responsibilities and lines of communication are maintained among technical staff.
  7. Share project results at local, regional and international forums to contribute to the evidence base for tobacco control.
  8. Stay abreast with the latest trends in global, regional, and national developments in the field tobacco control and Non communicable diseases.
  9. Ensure timely and complete submission of reports to donors and other stakeholders  
  10. Mentor and supervise team of technical staff in order to achieve set targets
  11. Provide secretariat for the steering committee
  12. Present annual budget to steering committee, donors and other stakeholders as required
  13. Conduct sign off of CTCA payments
  14. Ensure the centre’s operations are in compliance with policy and procedures of MakSPH and Donors
  15. Oversee quality control throughout the entire project
  16. Responsible for partnership building and management
  17. Resource mobilisation and sustainability planning
