Request for Expression of interest to develop consultant to design the branding and corporate identity for the 1st Africa Conference on Tobacco and Development
- Introduction:
The Centre for Tobacco Control in Africa (CTCA) is a Uganda based organisation that builds and sustains institutional capacity in tobacco control for African governments.The Centre, in conjunction with the Africa Capacity Building Foundation, is hosting the 1st Africa Conference on Tobacco and Development, a virtual conference for all tobacco control actors on the continent.
Over the last two decades, the tobacco control response in Africa has largely been based on data generated externally from high income countries or from research designed and conducted to answer questions to provide solutions for developed settings. The aim of the 1st Africa Conference on Tobacco and Development is to generate research and data about tobacco control from the continent.
The conference is therefore expected to collate tobacco control evidence to ground TC policy designs and implementation roll out efforts in Africa. It will also provide an opportunity for capacity development in policy development, research, evidence based programming and implementation. The conference is the first in a series of tobacco conferences in Africa projected to be conducted biennually. It will provide a platform for sharing of policy and implementation experiences and dissemination of research conducted in various African countries.
The specific duties are all related to design. This include:
- A graphic theme for the conference that will be used on all materials in line with the conference logo
- A slide deck template for presentations at the conference
- A PDF template for all documents that will be uploaded onto the site
- Promotional flyers for the conference
- Web and motion graphics for the conference website including a website banner
- Email template banners
- Motion graphics, video and messaging templates for promotional material in the run up to the conference
- Video and graphic material for the conference opening ceremony
- Infographic templates that can be used to report on material that has been presented at the conference
- Design of abstract and poster booklet that will be disseminated at the conference
- To work with Communications specialist and CTCA IT officer
Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor’s degree (or its university equivalent) in Graphic Design, Digital Media or similar;
- A minimum of two (2) years of work-related experience in graphic design with proven knowledge of graphic layout and design across multiple media channels
- Demonstrated experience in the use of one (1) or more standard design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.);
- Language: Excellent command in English.

- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Experience in developing similar materials with recognized organizations
- Proof of previous work

Selection of best candidate
The best designer/company will be selected on merit in accordance with the selection based on the qualifications and experience.
