The CTCA and the Uganda Ministry of Health held an engagement meeting to fastback tobacco control activities in the country.
The meeting brought together the Ministry of Health Director General, the Commissioner of Non-Communicable Diseases, the Director of Curative Services, the Tobacco Control Focal Person and a representative from the Civil Society Organisations.
According to the statistics, Uganda has a rising burden of tobacco smoking among young people. Just under 8% of the young people older than 15 use of tobacco products.
The meeting was chaired by the Director General. CTCA presented the focus of the current CTCA grant to support the Uganda government towards implement tobacco control activities in the country.
Discussions were held on the activities currently implemented and it was agreed to hold monthly meetings to check on progress of the activities.
