The Centre for Tobacco Control in Africa is seeking to recruit a Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Centre and for the implementation of the Centre’s Business Plan, Strategic Plan, and Performance Management Plan. S/he will directly supervise the CTCA’s technical staff and the Programme Officer and among others his/her specific duties and responsibilities shall include;
- Offer strategic and operational leadership to the Centre in the execution of its mandate;
- Represent the Centre at all tobacco control strategic partnership meetings and events;
- Lead the centre’s programs within its strategic plan as approved by the steering committee
- Liase with WHO, ACBF and MakSPH on CTCA related issues Uganda Centre for Tobacco Control in Africa 305
- Develop/produce contractual deliverables (quarterly, annual, project evaluations, etc.) in conjunction with other key staff and external consultants
- Ensure clear roles and responsibilities and lines of communication are maintained among technical staff.
- Share project results at local, regional and international forums to contribute to the evidence base for tobacco control.
- Stay abreast with the latest trends in global, regional, and national developments in the field tobacco control and Non communicable diseases.
- Ensure timely and complete submission of reports to donors and other stakeholders
- Mentor and supervise team of technical staff in order to achieve set targets
- Provide secretariat for the steering committee
- Present annual budget to steering committee, donors and other stakeholders as required
- Conduct sign off of CTCA payments
- Ensure the centre’s operations are in compliance with policy and procedures of MakSPH and Donors
- Oversee quality control throughout the entire project
- Responsible for partnership building and management
- Resource mobilisation and sustainability planning
